Step #1 POSE
Some of our characters have multiple poses. Click on the pose icon, and then click the one you want.
Step #2 COLOR
Click the color icon and color your MAQET by selecting a pattern or solid color. To see a wide spectrum of color combinations, slide the red arrow back and forth.
Step #3 FACIAL EXPRESSION
Your character comes with different facial expressions. Click the expression icon, then choose one or click the X to leave your character’s face blank.
Step #4 DRAW
When you click on the Draw icon, you can use our online tools to add lots of details to your character’s design OR you can upload Photoshop, Illustrator, or scanned files featuring your very own custom artwork.
To use our DRAW TOOLS:
- Click to select a color.
- Opacity shows more or less transparency.
- Size shrinks or increases the size of your selected drawing tool.
- When drawing, hold down your mouse to create a flow of color OR click your mouse once to create a stamp effect.
- Click Clear to erase all your drawing work or Undo to go back a step.
- Click Show background / Hide background to toggle between seeing your overall color (from Step #2) and seeing only what you’ve drawn on your character.
To use our TEMPLATES with Photoshop, Illustrator or hand-drawn scanned designs:
- First, select DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE (bottom of the Brush menu) for the template to design with and its instructions. Save the Template PDF to your computer.
- When ready, select UPLOAD DESIGN FILE to see your design turn into a custom MAQET
MORE STUFF YOU CAN DO!
- Click on your character, hold and drag to spin it around and rotate your view.
- Click on the magnifying glass icon (on upper right) to zoom in on 3D character details. (Doesn’t work in Draw mode though.)
- Click FULLSCR to have the working area fill up your whole screen. Then, click your ESC key to get back to your normal browser window.

WHAT ARE MAQETS?
MAQETs are collectible figurines you can shop for or customize online. Think of MAQET as the artistic equivalent of a Choose Your Own Adventure book. You can skip straight to the end and collect a finished Artist Edition by one of our internationally acclaimed character designers. Or, you can customize, personalize and transform a blank MAQET into a unique piece that tells your own story. With an assortment of options provided by the designers, and our fun, web-based creation software, MAQET.com is able to offer artists of all levels a uniquely collaborative DIY experience.
WHAT ARE MAQETS MADE OF?
MAQETs are made of special plaster-based powders that are layered, colored and bonded together. They are finished with a gloss and have a similar appearance to ceramic or porcelain.
HOW ARE MAQETS MADE?
MAQETs are designed globally and made locally. Unlike most collectibles manufactured in factories overseas, MAQETs are made in our environmentally responsible Northern California lab. MAQET uses 3D printing, a form of additive manufacturing technology where a 3D object is created by laying down successive layers of material. Similar to how heat binds clay into ceramic, our 3D printing machines build and bond plaster-based powders into MAQETs. Just like art frescoes, MAQET's colors are infused and embedded. An expert artisan ushers every MAQET through the entire process, hand-finishing them with a special proprietary process to achieve their distinctive glaze. Each MAQET is then inspected for quality, packed up and shipped to your door. Technology and humanity working together in harmony to supercharge your creativity: that's what MAQET is all about.
<HOW BIG ARE MAQETS and HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?
MAQETs come in two sizes: small and large. Because each character has its own proportions, we include detailed measurements in each item’s description. As with sizes, prices also vary. Create Your Own MAQETS start at just $20 before shipping and handling.
WILL MY REAL MAQET MATCH WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE ON SCREEN?
While we are constantly tweaking our software to give you the best experience, what you see online should be regarded as a very close approximation. Everyone’s monitor settings are different, which means the colors of your real MAQET may vary slightly from what you see on your screen. Your real MAQET will also have more sculptural detail and rounder curves than what you see in the software. The physical quality of a real MAQET is pretty amazing! Viewing the photos on our website and Facebook page will give you a good indication of what real MAQETs look like. If at any point in the process you have a question, simply save your design to My Saved MAQETs, and drop us a line using the Contact Form.
HOW ARE MAQETS PACKAGED?
We appreciate the time and effort you put into creating and shopping for your MAQETs, and we package them accordingly. Small MAQETs are shipped in boxes with protective bubble wrap and a special ID tag displaying its birth date. Larger MAQETs come in upgraded boxes with custom-cut foam and an ID tag that displays its birth date.
HOW LONG UNTIL MY MAQET ARRIVES IN THE MAIL?
Our customers appreciate our fast delivery. MAQET usually ships within 3 business days of an order being placed. Depending on which shipping service you select, you can receive your MAQET in approximately 5-10 days. We ship worldwide, and our technology delivers!
WHAT IS THE REFUND/EXCHANGE POLICY FOR MAQETS?
Your MAQET is an individual expression and personalized piece of art. Because of the customization involved in making your MAQET, they are only refundable in two rare cases. Please refer to our Return Policy.
HOW DO I BUY MY MAQET?
After designing your MAQET, click 'MAKE IT REAL'. You'll then have the choice to save it, share it, and/or purchase it. You must be 18 years of age or older to make a purchase, and you do not have to create an account to purchase a MAQET.
HOW DO I SELL MY MAQET?
MAQET.com is currently curated by our team of MAQETEERS, but we are always on the lookout for new designers. If you create characters of your own or have done some really cool customizations of existing MAQETs, feel free to tell us about it through our Contact Page. Also: we encourage you to sell your real MAQETs in real life. We have seen custom MAQETs find new homes through art exhibits and craft fairs.
