Make a Collectible Kits Are Ready to Ship!

Everything you need to make a MAQET is right here online for you. But maybe you’d like to give someone else the gift of making a MAQET. Or you want to make MAQETs with friends as a social group activity. Or perhaps the unimaginable has occurred: Your Internet connection is down! (The horror!) For you, we have Make a Collectible Kits. Each kit contains EVERYTHING you need to make a MAQET: character templates, coloring markers, easy-to-follow instructions and a pre-paid certificate for transforming your design into a real MAQET art figurine. MAQET offers kits for three skill levels: The Emerging Artist Edition (recommended for ages 5+ | $30 small; $50 large), The Artist Edition ($35 small; $55 large) and The Pro-Deluxe Edition (available for artists 18+ | $90 large). Here’s how they work.
When you open your Make a Collectible Kit, you’ll find several character templates. (The templates will vary based on the skill level of the kit.) Choose the one you like best. Our plump “Lil Bruiser” character (shown above) is a favorite with DIY artists of all levels.
Each kit contains a variety of colorful markers. (The Emerging Artist Edition features child-safe Crayola® markers, The Artist Edition features colorful Sharpies® and the Pro-Deluxe Edition features professional Krink® paint markers.) We encourage artists to use the markers provided in the kit, but you can also use your own art supplies. In this example, our artist’s favorite color is blue, and he is designing an all blue Lil Bruiser.
Here’s what the Lil Bruiser template looks like after it’s been colored in. It’s OK if you go outside the outlines, but just make sure to color all the way up to the lines (so there’s no interruption in your design when we make it for you).
When you’ve finished designing your character, place the template and the pre-paid Official MAQET Money Certificate (that came in your kit) into the self-addressed envelope. Fill out the order form telling us how many editions of your MAQET you’d like us to make. (It can be an edition of 1 or 100!) Add the completed order form to the envelope, enclose additional payment (if applicable), stamp the envelope, and put it in the mailbox. You’re done! The manufacturing process has begun!
In just a couple weeks, your very own all blue Lil Bruiser (designed by YOU!) arrives. MAQETs are vibrant, full-color collectibles made with Plastin®, a porcelain-like material with a smooth, shiny finish. We bring them to life in our eco-conscious Northern California lab and ship them straight to your door. Put your new MAQET on display and beam with pride as friends ask you in what gallery or shop you bought that incredible art object. We won’t tell your secret.
MAQET’s Make a Collectible Kits are available now and ready to ship in time for holiday gift-giving. We mail out kits within two days of your order. Order by December 15th (standard mail) and December 21st (Fedex Overnight) for GUARANTEED delivery by Christmas!
