But these days, our stories are caught between worlds: we smile through emoticons, play sports with remote controls and read books through a screen. At MAQET, we love technology that enables creativity, but we love the sensation of holding a real object generated by that creativity even more. The feel of it. The weight of it. The interaction that comes from it. MAQET believes that there shouldn't be obstacles to making cool, unique and collectible stuff. We believe that it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to create and collect special objects. MAQETs are not only unique, high-quality collectors' items, but they're also affordable. Our prices blow away traditionally mass-produced collectibles and leave expensive, "exclusive" keepsakes in the dust. MAQET makes limited editions of ONE. It doesn't get more exclusive than that!

MAQET is an eco-friendly and socially responsible company headquartered in San Francisco. Our motto is Designed Globally, Made Locally. Although we're often awake at weird hours to catch up with our network of top international character designers, every single MAQET is produced in our Northern California lab, where we ensure the best conditions. We're very sensitive to current controversies concerning product safety and production, especially overseas. With MAQET, you get a high-quality collectible figurine made from plastin, a plaster-based material. Any excess plastin from one MAQET is immediately recycled into the next MAQET. Since we make MAQETs on demand, as you order them, there is never any surplus product or wasted space.

WHO IS MAQET?

Founder Keith Cottingham is a San Francisco-based artist who has been called "clever" by ARTnews and "disturbing" by Art Press. His personal work explores the concept of constructed realities through computer art, photography, animation and sculpture. Keith believes the world of mass-produced collectibles has lost its imagination and creative direction. He created MAQET as a way for individuals to make collectible art objects that are uniquely their own. His favorite part about MAQET is helping other people experience the pleasure of artistic creation and witness their ideas come to life. Keith currently shows with Ronald Feldman Fine Arts in New York.

MAQET is further fortified by a small and wonderful team that includes a Flash guru, a graphic designer, an engineer, a writer, a curator and a content producer.
